Response to COVID-19

Double Portion recognizes that our services are critical to our guests and we want to do our best to continue to provide services during this health pandemic. Recognizing that many of our volunteers and guests are at a higher risk for developing complications from various illnesses, including COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we have made the following changes to our services:

  • All meals will be provided to-go, rather than a sit-down meal. When guests come into DP, they may receive pantry items and pick up a prepackaged meal before leaving St. Thomas. We ask that you do not stay to eat your meal at Double Portion.

  • The pantry will be open during its regular time (11:30-12:30 Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays). Guests may receive up to SIX items instead of the usual 4-5.

  • Meals and Pantry items will be served EACH Wednesday (including the 3rd Wednesday) until further notice.

  • The doors to DP will remain closed until mealtime at 11:30 and will close again at 12:30. Although we all enjoy our time of fellowship, we want to honor the requests of authorities and encourage social distancing during this time.

  • Please follow all procedures below and follow any directions from volunteers.

If you feel ill at all, we ask that you do not come to DP - whether a volunteer or guest.

Please consider coming in a little later than usual, such as the 11:45-12:15 timeframe to

minimize time spent sitting with others while waiting for the pantry.

Take-Out Procedures:

  • If you are vaccinated, wearing a mask is optional.

If you are not vaccinated, masks are required while in the building

  • Please use hand sanitizer upon entering the building

  • Keep a physical distance of at least 6-feet from volunteers and guests who are not from your immediate family (or who did not ride here with you)

  • Move in a clockwise direction inside the building

    • Enter at the playground doors

    • Proceed to a table if you need to place a pantry order

    • Proceed to the food/bread table (AFTER receiving your pantry order)

    • Exit out the ramp doors

  • Please keep the aisle in the fellowship hall clear and moving

(Don’t stop to talk to guests as it’s difficult for those moving through to keep a 6-ft distance if the aisle is crowded)

  • Please only take 1 meal per person in your household

For Pantry Needs:

  • Please sit at one of the tables with a pantry clipboard on it.

  • One person/family per table. If all tables are occupied, please wait until one opens up.

  • Please put your first name & last initial on the order form.

  • Circle up to 6 items you’d like and hand the form to a volunteer.

  • Please remain seated until your items are delivered to you.

Thank you for helping us keep our guests and volunteers safe.
